摘 要:In this talk I will give a brief introduction to random matrix theory, its planar structure, and the theory of topological recursion by Eynard-Orantin which is developed from the full genus expansion of Hermitian matrix models. Since its inception the same recursive structure is found in many seemingly unrelated enumerative geometry problems. I will mention a few of them and possible further directions.

题 目:Applications of Planar algebras to Graph theory

摘 要:Planar algebras were introduced by Jones as an axiomatization of standard invariants for subfactors. This topological viewpoint for subfactors provides a natural interpretation of problems in graph theory and further tools to study them. In this talk, we will describe the idea of applying planar algebras to graph theory, specifically to the independence number and Shannon Capacity of graphs.

题 目:Canonical Categorical Construction of Lie Algebras

摘 要:We outline a construction of (the universal enveloping algebra of) a Lie algebra from its Dynkin diagram. This construction is novel in that it does not come from representations of an oriented quiver, but rather is canonical.
