Title: The omnipresence of operads in mathematics

Abstract: The theory of operads allows one to study fundamental properties of algebraic structures that are not tied to properties of one particular algebraic object possessing that structure. I shall give a short introduction to this theory, mention some of my contributions to it, including a few applications across different domains, including algebra, combinatorics, topology, stochastic PDEs, and numerical methods, and conclude with a brief outline of some appealing future projects.
