Title: Lorentzian Polynomials and Log-Concavity

Abstract:The theory of Lorentzian polynomials was developed independently by BrändénHuh and AnariLiuOveis GharanVinzant to study the structures underlying log-concavity phenomena. In this talk, I will give a survey of the theory of Lorentzian polynomials and discuss some of its applications to log-concavity results in matroid theory.

Title: Volume Polynomials and Volume Inequalities

Abstract:Volume polynomials form a special family of Lorentzian polynomials. In this talk, I will discuss how volume polynomials can be used to deduce many fundamental inequalities, including the AlexandrovFenchel inequalities, the LoomisWhitney inequalities, the KhovanskiiTeissier inequalities, and the reverse KhovanskiiTeissier inequalities. This is joint work with June Huh, Mateusz Michałek, and Jian Xiao.
