摘 要: Classical Teichmiller space connects the geometry of hyperbolic surfaces with discrete and faithful representations of surface groups into PSL(2,R). Higher Teichmiller theory extends this viewpoint to higher-rank Lie groups. The non-abelian Hodge correspondence provides a complex-geometric description of surface group representations in terms of Higgs bundles, with harmonic maps forming a bridge between the two sides. In this talk, I will introduce the main ideas of the correspondence and explain its role in higher Teichmuiller theory, using Hitchin components as a guiding example. I will then discuss a natural but subtle question: how can we tell from a Higgs bundle whether the corresponding representation is discrete and faithful? This will illustrate both what the correspondence reveals and what remains difficult to see on the Higgs bundle side. 

李琼玲研究员简介：2014年在美国莱斯大学获得博士学位，之后在MSRI、奥胡斯大学 和加州理工学院从事博士后研究，2018年入职南开大学陈省身数学研究所，现任研究 员。主要研究方向是Higgs丛，调和映照和Higher Teichmiller理论。曾入选国家海外高 层次人才计划青年项目，主持国家重点研发计划青年科学家项目，和入选德国洪堡资深 学者项目。
