Abstract：In this talk I will introduce a general algebraic / topological notion of character for (g, K)-modules which extends to large categories of representations which are inaccessible to Harish-Chandra's gobal characters. As an illustration of the theory I will discuss applications to essentially arbitrary discretely decomposable restrictions.
