Abstract:

In this talk, I will review the recent development in the theory of holomorphic motions over a simply connected domain or over a multi-connected Riemann surface.When the parameter space is a multi-connected Riemann surface, I will talk about how the extension problem relates to the mondromy between the fundamental group of this Riemann surface and the mapping class group of the n-puncture sphere. 

I will also talk a counter-example we constructed in Sullivan-Thurston’s quasiconformal motion theory and based on this counter-example, our definition of a tame quasiconformal motion. Finally, I will talk the universal property for tame quasiconformal motions and applications in Teichmuller theory.
