摘 要：At the ICM in 1970 Grothendieck asked the question to describe the p-adic analog of Griffiths period spaces. I will review the history of the subject of p-adic period mappings and p-adic period spaces since then. I will then speak about a recent joint result with Miaofen Chen and Xu Shen about the structure of those period spaces.
