摘 要：In this talk, I will discuss an interesting decomposition of the reductive p-adic groups into certain conjugate-invariant subsets, which are called the Newton strata. I will then explain how this decomposition may be used in the representation theory. I will also discuss a recent joint work with S. Nie on the geometric interpretation of the Newton strata.
