题 目：An overlooked problem: Betti numbers of closed manifolds

摘 要：Given natural numbers b_0, b_1, .... b_n, we ask whether there is a closed manifold M of dimension n with b_i(M)=b_i. A special case was studied by Zhixu Su, namely where n=4k, b_0=1, b_2k=1, b_4k=1, and b_i=0 for other i. This shows a surprising relation to number theory. In joint work with Don Zagier we extend this result.
