摘 要:In this talk, we will study hyperbolic solutions of the Newtonian n-body problem. In which case, all mutual distances between the masses tend to infinity with nonzero speed as time goes to negative or positive infinity. Using proper time and coordinates, we first show these solutions form the stable or unstable manifolds of some equilibria at infinity. Then we give a new proof of Chazy's classical asymptotic formulas for these solutions.
Afterwards we will talk about the hyperbolic scattering problem, that is the possible pairs of equilibria at infinity that could be connected by solutions that are hyperbolic in both forward and backward time. This is a joint work with Duignan, Moeckel and Montgomery.
