摘  要：This talk has two parts. The first part is a gentle introduction to geometric group theory, and a brief discussion of the viewpoint of treating infinite discrete groups as geometric objects. The second part is on a specific class of groups, called Artin groups. These groups arise naturally from the study braid group, reflection groups, hyperplane arrangement and deformation of singularity. Artin groups are known for the sharp contrast between the simplicity of their presentation and their mysterious geometry. We will discuss several results on how to use the viewpoint of geometric group theory to understand some classes of Artin groups. This is based on several works, one is joint with Thomas Haettel, and three are joint with Damian Osajda.
