Title: Affine Springer fibers and affine vertex algebras

Abstract:A well-known classical story is a ``duality'' relation between certain pieces in the category O of a semisimple Lie algebra g and Springer fibers associated to the Langlands dual Lie algebra of g. It lifts the Barbasch-Vogan duality on nilpotent orbits.In this talk, I will review the classical picture, and explain a conjectural affine analog of this picture, where one replaces Springer fibers by their affine versions, and replaces the category O of g by the category O of affine vertex algebras. This is based on joint work in progress with Peng Shan and Wenbin Yan.
