Abstract: I will talk about the branching problem for real reductive groups, focusing on the restriction of representations to a maximal parabolic subgroup. Some applications follow, including the vanishing of the higher extension between generic representations of GL(n) and GL(n-1). This is based on a joint work with Kaidi Wu.
