Abstract: Inspired by the conjugation symmetry behind involutive Heegaard Floer homology, we introduce and study the flip symmetry on Khovanov homology. This symmetry induces an involution on Khovanov homology, and we prove that it is the identity map with F_2 coefficients, resolving a conjecture of Viro. This allows us to identify two involutions on Khovanov homology of strongly invertible knots. Time permitting, I might also explain a work-in-progress where we generalize the aforementioned results to Khovanov-Rozansky gl_N link homology, and its relation to operators on type A Soergel bimodules.
