摘  要: We have two mathematical approaches to chiral conformal field theory. One is based on vertex operator algebras and the other is on nets of operator algebras. We present a new mathematical relation between the two theories and discuss the Moonshine conjecture on the Monster group and modular functions and related topics. Knowledge on these topics are not assumed.
