Title: Convexity and plurisubharmonicity of the energy functional on Teichmüller space for harmonic maps between surfaces and Riemannian manifolds

Abstract: Let M be a compact Riemannian manifold, T be the Teichmüller space and Ʃt the Riemann surface for each t ∈ T. We study the Weil-Pettersson geodesic convexity and plurisubharmonicity of the energy functional E(t) on T for harmonic maps ft : Ʃt → M or ft : M → Ʃt in a fixed homotopy class. We find formulas for the second variations E(t) of using Hodge projections on certain space of differential forms defined by ft (Joint work with Inkang Kim and Xueyuan Wan).
